Ruthless Kindness Featured on Cover of Press Democrat

During a much needed time of the year for support, Ruthless Kindness was featured as a cover story in The Press Democrat’s December 30th issue.
The holidays are statistically known to have an increased rate of domestic violence. This particular month, Ruthless Kindness faced an unprecedented amount of calls and urgent requests for help. Victims with pets wishing to seek safety at safe houses could only do so if their pets could find safety too. Pets are not allowed a safe houses or shelters. That’s when Ruthless Kindness steps in, offering boarding or foster as well as medical care for the pets of victims.

2024 Statistics:
We had 435 free, mobile veterinary appointments; 80% were for victims/survivors of domestic violence. 63 in December alone.
We did 28 free veterinary clinics on site at human service agencies.
We has animals in foster homes for 761 days, providing 100% of their care and food around the clock.
We hosted 15 days of empathy education for youth directly exposed to violence in the home.
We trained 415 human service professionals to help people better understand the issue our clients face.
We gave away $109,750 worth of vet care
We gave away $16,475 worth of pet food
We traveled over 3,000 miles in our mobile vet care unit, “Clifford the Big Red Bus”, to reach the people and pets who needed our support.
