Help survivors & their pets escape abuse together

No one should have to choose between escaping abuse and saving their animals.

Our vision is simple and unwavering:

To tell every domestic violence survivor, “Don’t worry — just get out. We’ll make sure your animals get to safety with you.”

For abused people with pets who want to seek safety, the reality is heartbreaking: most domestic violence shelters don’t allow animals — leaving many to choose between their own safety and the lives of the companions they love.

Ruthless Kindness exists so they never have to face that choice alone.

The government has eliminated critical federal funding for Ruthless Kindness and other organizations like us that support survivors. This leaves Ruthless Kindness with a $133,000 per year funding deficit which we must raise to continue to provide veterinary care and foster care for the beloved pets of abuse survivors.

We need our caring community to step up so we can continue to say YES to survivors in their most urgent crisis moment, when they ask us for immediate assistance with mobile vaccines, pet foster and boarding, veterinary care for their abused animals, and help including their pets in emergency protective orders.

Right now, every dollar you give will be matched up to $50,000!
Thanks to two generous donors, your impact will go twice as far if you donate now. Please help us reach our goal to raise $133,000 to continue our work.

Your support provides real, immediate safety.
From emergency boarding and veterinary care to food, medicine, foster homes, and pet deposits — your donation covers everything needed to keep people and pets together, safely and permanently.

    • $500 funds a week of foster or boarding for a victim's animal including shelter, food, bedding, and supplies.
    • $250 covers the full diagnostics and medications for one of the many pets we see with a severe skin and ear infection
    • $150 provides a full vet exam, flea & tick prevention, deworming, vaccines and a microchip
    • $50 buys a week's worth of pet food and a new leash and collar for one client's pet
    • $35 affords a new pet bed
    • $10 provides flea & tick prevention for the pet of one client

Please, give what you can.
Because no one should have to choose between escaping abuse and saving their animals.

Our goal: $133,000 to fund another year of life-saving care
